Internships at the Australian Embassy, Tokyo
Note: Applications for 2018 internships are open from 1 October to 31 October 2017.
We welcome applications from university students 18 years or older to undertake an internship at the Australian Embassy, Tokyo.
Internships allow students with an interest in international relations (political, trade and economic policy, public diplomacy, trade promotion, education, defence, resources, marketing) to gain an insight into the work of the Embassy.
Every intern has a different set of experiences. Our aim is to give our interns exposure to the Embassy's activities through project work as well as involvement in the day-to-day activities of the Embassy.
Internships are unpaid and open to Australian and Japanese nationals for periods of between 6 and 12 weeks. Travel costs, travel and living arrangements and insurance are the responsibility of the intern.
English and a high level of Japanese language skills are required for most intern placements.
Please note that, should your application be successful, you will be required to complete a security check before starting your internship.
Only applicants progressing to the next stage will be contacted by the Embassy. All successful applicants will be notified by end of December 2017.
