On 8 April, Deputy Head of Mission HK Yu visited the National Museum of Nature and Science with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) to view the actual Hayabusa2 capsule that landed in Woomera, South Australia, in December 2020.
JAXA is currently analysing the ancient asteroid sample returned by Hayabusa2. Dr Masaki Fujimoto, Deputy Director General of ISAS, was on the ground in Woomera for the landing and provided an in-depth explanation of the exhibits and the mission itself.
Australia and Japan have a long-standing relationship on space, which will only continue to grow into the future.
