Australian Embassy Tokyo
The Australian Embassy Tokyo only accepts the following cards for all Australian Passport Application and Notarial Service payments:

Visa (credit or debit cards)

Mastercard (credit or debit cards)

American Express
At the Australian Embassy Tokyo, payments can only be processed in Australian Dollars.
If your card is in a different currency, the Australian Dollar amount will be converted to your card's currency by your card issuer at their foreign exchange rate.

Australian Consulate-General Osaka
From 1 June 2022, the Australian Consulate-General Osaka will only accept the following cards/services for all Australian Passport Application and Notarial Service payments:

At the Australian Consulate-General Osaka , payments can only be processed in Japanese Yen.
If your card is in a different currency, the Japanese Yen amount will be converted to your card's currency by your card issuer at their foreign exchange rate.

Our fees increase in line with the consumer price index on 1 January each year. Fees in Japanese Yen are subject to change and updated on the first working day of each month based on the current foreign exchange rate.
Passport fees (detailed in the linked files) apply and are payable under the provisions of the Australian Passports (Application Fees) Act 2015 and the Australian Passports Amendment Determination 2015.
