How to Prepare for a Typhoon
- Monitor weather warnings issued by local authorities and, wherever possible, avoid outdoor activities until the typhoon has passed.
- Anticipate potential flooding and disruption to essential services including electricity and transportation.
- Avoid foothills at risk of mudslides, stay away from river banks, and beware of coastlines where potential “freak waves” may hit.
- Check your onward travel plans and don't attempt to travel until you have confirmed transport providers are operating.
- Keep your passport and travel documents safe from water damage.
- Let family and friends in Australia know you are safe.
