Australia Alumni in Japan
Alumni are an important part of the Australia-Japan relationship. Many Japanese students choose Australia every year to pursue their tertiary education. Following their time in Australia, these alumni achieve fulfilling careers in Japan and throughout the world thanks to Australia’s world-leading educational institutions. 25% of Australia’s universities are in the top 100 globally according to QS World University Rankings 2026 and they continue to excel in research, academic reputation and internationalisation every year.
Beyond their careers, alumni of Australian universities are strong assets to the development of people-to-people links, which lay at the heart of the Australia-Japan relationship. Alumni contribute to their respective communities and fields to help foster better cooperation and pave the way for future generations of students.
50-year treaty anniversary outreach program
As part of commemorations for the 50th anniversary of the Australia-Japan Basic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation, the Australian Embassy is launching a campaign to connect with the Australia alumni community based in Japan.
This outreach program will be conducted via a Microsoft Form survey, accessible through the following link or by scanning the below QR code. Link to Microsoft Form.
If you are interested in connecting with the Embassy, please fill out the survey, which should take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Once submitted, you will be added to the Embassy’s mailing list to receive information about alumni-related events.
*For the purposes of this campaign, the Embassy defines alumni as Japanese citizens / residents of Japan that have studied at an Australian tertiary institution (i.e. University or TAFE) for 6-months or more. We kindly ask for your understanding on this matter.

The Australian Embassy also seeks to connect with Alumni Associations of Australian universities based in Japan. Alumni associations are encouraged to reach out about any upcoming activity.
