I’m moving to Australia, can I bring my pet with me?
Australia has very stringent biosecurity regulations, as such there are strict procedures in place for people wishing to bring pets into Australia. Japan is considered a Group 2 Country requiring an import permit to bring your pet into Australia. You can consult the following site for a step-by-step guide.
Additional information on bringing cats, dogs and other pets to Australia can be found here: Department of Agriculture and Water Resources website.
I’m travelling to Australia, what Omiyage can I take with me?
Please consult the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources website for a non-exhaustive list of items that can be brought into Australia. This will also provide guidance on what food items need to be declared upon arrival. For example, Omiyage such as cooked biscuits and cakes can be brought into Australia and do not need to be declared.
Failing to make a declaration is an offence and serious consequences can result.
I’m travelling to Australia, what items must I declare upon arrival?
Australia values our unique environment that is essential to our high quality agriculture and tourism industries; as such Australia has strict biosecurity regulations on items you bring into Australia.
When you arrive in Australia you will be required to fill in an incoming passenger card, which asks you to declare any specified food, plant material or animal products you might be bringing in with you. When you declare these items, a biosecurity officer will inspect them to determine if it poses a risk to Australian biodiversity. If it does not pose a risk, the item will be returned back to you. If you are unsure of the requirements to declare goods, tick ‘yes’ or ask a biosecurity officer on arrival.
Failing to make a declaration is an offence and serious consequences can result.
