Adult Replacement Passport Application

A replacement passport is a reprint of an existing passport with a new passport number. It is less than half the cost of a regular 10-year passport renewal.

The replacement passport’s expiry date will be the same as the existing passport. The existing passport must have at least two years validity remaining in order for a replacement passport to be issued.

You can apply for a replacement passport if your existing passport has:

  • run out of blank visa pages,

  • minor damage, or

  • been compromised in a data breach.

For other replacement passports such as Replacement of Emergency Passport / Replacement of Lost or Stolen Passport / Replacement of Seriously Damaged Passport / Name Change on Passport, please refer to the Adult Passport Application page.

A replacement passport application must be lodged in person and the existing passport must be presented at lodgement.

Required documents:

  • Single page renewal form
(Print the form single sided using the "fit to page" setting to ensure no sections are missing)

  • Australian Passport photos (Full name written on back of 1 photo, signature/endorsement not required)

    • Do not attach photos to application form, attaching photos to the application form with glue, paperclips, staples or bulldog clips can mark or damage the photo making them unusable

  • Photo ID with address
(Japanese Residence Card / Driver’s Licence / My Number Card)
