Adult Passport Renewal (Postal Lodgement)

Adult Passport Renewals for eligible applicants can be lodged via postal mail.

Note:

This excludes adults applying for: First Adult Passport / Replacement of Emergency Passport / Replacement of Lost or Stolen Passport / Replacement of Seriously Damaged Passport / Name Change on Passport. If you need one of these application forms, please see Adult Passport Application (in-person only).

Required documents:

• Single page renewal form 
  (Print the form single sided using the "fit to page" setting to ensure no sections are missing)

• 2 passport photos (Full name written on back of 1 photo, signature/endorsement not required)

  • Strict Photograph Guidelines apply. (Blue background is NOT acceptable, photobooth photos are NOT acceptable, glasses are NOT acceptable, removal of background colour is NOT acceptable)

  • Do not attach photos to the application form

• Copy of your most recent Australian passport (photo page only)

  • Please do not send the actual passport, just a photocopy

• Copy of photo ID to confirm your address (Front and back)

  • Japanese Residence Card / Driver’s Licence / My Number Card)

  • Please do not send the actual ID card, just a photocopy

  • English translation of the ID is not required

• Checklist and credit card authorisation form (Fees are the same as in-person application)

  • Checklist and Credit Card Authorisation Form for use at the Australian Embassy Tokyo

  • Checklist and Credit Card Authorisation Form for use at the Australian Consulate-General Osaka

 

 

How to lodge a postal application for Adult Passport Renewal:

1. Prepare the documents listed above. Remember to sign the renewal form and ensure your signature fits within the white box (if your signature extends outside of the white box, try again using the white box on the right-hand side). Remember to write your full name on the back of one photo.
   

2. Send the documents to us via postal mail. If you wish to track your application or confirm we received it, please use a form of registered mail (kannikakitome / kakitome / Letter Pack etc).

   If you live in one of these prefectures, send your postal lodgement to the Australian Consulate-General Osaka: Australian Consulate-General Osaka Consular Section 16F Twin 21 MID Tower 2-1-61 Shiromi, Chuo-ku Osaka 540-6116

3. Once we receive your documents, we will charge your credit card and email you the receipt. The processing time will start from this day. Please note incomplete applications will cause delays.

4. When your new passport is ready and arrives at our office, we will send it to you via registered post.
